I had a Moda Botany charm pack that's been sitting in my drawer since December when I bought it at Burgundy Buttons on super sale. After much debate, I decided to use it in a stacked coin-type quilt and chose the Moda Bake Shop version.
Problem - it needed 2 charm packs and I only had 1. What's a girl to do? I'd been hearing a lot about Connecting Threads from the ladies in my quilt group and decided to give them a try. I bought some basic white Essential Thread (boring I know) and a couple of their solids charm packs to mix in with the Botany. The colors are very nice and I was happy to find enough matching to make it work. The fabric itself is a little more stiff and less soft than Moda (but honestly what isn't?). Everything sewed up very well and I'm pleased with how it's turning out. The thread works really well in my machine too.
I'm piecing the backing with some of the Connecting Threads yardage too, so we'll see how it all comes together and is quilted, washed, and crinkly!

Your quilt came out so beautifully! I love stacked coins quilts--they're so classic but still look really modern and trendy. Love the colors, too!

Love the quilt top, very simple and classic. Fun prints. The white solid is perfect :)
I like your coin quilt. I have been tempted to order some of the fabrics from Connecting Threads, I have gotten their catalog for years. Some of their fabric is really nice and it is so much cheaper too. Hum maybe the way to go with the prices rising. But there is nothing like Moda fabric!
Can't wait to hear how the washing goes - I've been curious about Connecting Threads for a while now, especially now with fabric prices going up. Happy WiP Wednesday :)
Your quilt is gorgeous!
What a cute little quilt!

Thanks for all the compliments! I finished washing it yesterday and it looks great. I think for simple solids and backing fabrics, it's fine to go with Connecting Threads stuff. I will say the backing I used had a print, and the ink or whatever was raised a little, so it wasn't woven into the fabric. I'm not sure if all of their stuff is like this. I'm totally in love with the bright cars and city landscape they have though - too cute!
Very sweet!
It looks great! I like the use of the solids - it's really effective!
I'm always looking for cheaper yardage options too- especially for backing! My next experiment is a used sheet, lol! Not sure what's going to happen, but it'll be interesting!
