Fabric Stash Sunday

Call me the fabric whisperer.  Some days, I just have an itch to go to the thrift store.  And those days generally come up with some great finds.  Like yesterday, when I didn't want to wait in line at the post office and detoured to Goodwill instead.  I found these lovelies, all for $6.20!

Half yard of AMH Loulouthi voile
Half yard of each Lizzy House Constellations - 2 patterns
Half yard of each Rashida Coleman Hale Tsuru - 2 patterns
FQ of Michael Miller marbled print
~1.5 yds of minky

Woohoo!  Can't wait to use these fabric steals!

Sunday Stash Guest Host: Me!

Finding Fifth has let me guest host Sunday Stash - what an honor!

Sometimes I'm late to the party.  I'm a doctor - we're supposed to run late, right?  :D  I don't know exactly why I didn't jump on the Architextures band wagon earlier, because the fabrics are perfect for many projects.  The prints and the colors - love them!  I feel like I had to search to the end of the internets before I finally found a fat quarter bundle of Architextures by Carolyn Friedlander to call my own.  Now, what should I do with it?  I'm thinking it'll be perfect for the Jacquie Gering Stitch & Flip workshop I'll be taking later this month.  I just need a background fabric.  Any suggestions?  If you missed out on Architextures, don't worry.  Carolyn has a new line coming soon called Botanics that promises to be equally impressive!

Lee also sent me this great find - Tula Pink ladybugs!  Thanks Lee at May Chappell!

What have you added to your stash this week?  Show us your pretties.

Fabric Stash Sunday #8

Back in February, I had the chance to meet Elizabeth Hartman from Oh, Fransson!  I've long admired her work and have made several of her patterns.  I did the whole groupie thing, fawning over her and had her sign my books and take a picture.  She was great!

Fast forward to last month or so when I posted a picture on Instagram of KJR ribbon flowers that I bought and said I only needed 2 more prints to finish my collection.  Elizabeth sent me an email telling me she'd send me one missing piece and that the envelope was lonely with just a fat eighth in it, and she'd surprise me with something else!

Here are the extras that came in the package - quarter yards of these great prints from Violet Craft's Waterfront Park collection.  I told you she was great, right?  I really like the yellow domino dots and think those are going to be a great blender because they come in so many good colors.  Bridgetown is pretty awesome too!  Thanks Elizabeth, for such a fun surprise!

Fabric Stash Sunday #6

This past week, my friend Jessica decided to close her modern fabric store, Remnants: Fiber Culture.  Many of her friends and local sewists came to her shop for her closing sale.  While it was a sad event for many including myself, Jessica is excited as ever about focusing on her growing long-arm business. We all wish her the best, but I'm sure glad I could snag some fabric deals this week too!  I bought a range of Lizzy House Pearl Bracelet colors, a Painter's Canvas in black, and some Koi that will most likely make an excellent quilt binding.  Have you added anything to your stash this week?

Fabric Stash Sunday #5

This week for Stash Share, Alyssa chose a lovely color scheme including light gray, dark gray, black, hot pink, and mustard yellow.  I love the challenge to pull fabrics from my stash to coordinate with hers.  I never would have put these colors together otherwise but I think they turned out quite nicely!

What would you make with this fabric bundle?  A zippered pouch sounds good to me!  For more fabric inspiration, check out Sunday Stash being guest hosted by Kristy at Quiet Play.

Fabrics included here, starting at noon and going clockwise:

  • Black batik by Robert Kaufman
  • Joel Dewberry Pink Herringbone
  • Michael Miller Cotton Couture solid pink
  • Flea Market Fancy Legacy
  • P&B Textiles Yellow leaf print
  • Definitions design 3221 by Faye Burgos for Marcus Fabrics
  • Michael Miller Backyard Baby

Fabric Stash Sunday #4

Alyssa at Pile o' Fabric started a really fun feature on her blog called Stash Share.  It's similar to Finding Fifth's Sunday Stash, but Alyssa is challenging herself to pull fabrics from her stash in specific color combos.  I think this is so fun and I definitely plan to play along!  This week Alyssa picked green and purples.  Here's my bundle.

Fabrics are:
Green (top to bottom)
Katie Jump Rope by Denyse Schmidt
JoAnn
Hello Pilgrim by Lizzy House
Green Solid from Robert Kaufman

Purple (top to bottom)
Birds and the Bees by Tula Pink
Urban Garden by Erin McMorris
Pearl Bracelets in Grape by Lizzy House
Jewels by Lizzy House
Ombre Solid from Simply Color by Vanessa Christenson

Fabric Stash Sunday #4

This Sunday's collection is related to last Sunday's because it too, is Dear Stella Lanikai in the blue colorway.  I absolutely love these colors and prints!  Especially the ikat in the top left corner - I've made a J. Crew knockoff skirt and couch pillows because I want to see it all the time.  These are a little harder to find now, but definitely worth the purchase if you ask me!  I still haven't decided what to do with this scrumptious little bundle, but it'll be a good one, I promise.  Go see what others have been stashing over at Finding Fifth!

Fabric Stash Sunday #3

This fabric is a bit older, but I you know what they say, an oldie but a goodie!  These lovelies are Mimosa by Dear Stella fabrics.  I love the bright orange and pink combo.  The tiles and stripes make great blenders, and the florals would be great focus fabrics.  My favorite is the ikat, and if you remember my ikat J. Crew skirt, the print is the same but the blue colorway.  I don't have a plan for these beauties just yet, but I'm sure a perfect quilt pattern will come along eventually :)  Please go check out the other lovely stashes at Finding Fifth!

Sunday Stash

Seems like somebody around here loves Cuzco by Kate Spain!  Hint - it's not my boyfriend or Carlton :)  I just love the saturated colors and beautiful prints in this line.  I couldn't help myself and bought "a few" prints in yardage, two jelly rolls, and a layer cake so far.  Who knows what else I'll end up with when these go on sale!  I had a plan for one of the jelly rolls but I've forgotten what that was now, so I'm open to suggestions.  Oh and did you hear about the Kate Spain Blog Hop hosted by Blossom Heart Quilts?  Go check it out if you love Kate Spain fabric as much as I do!  For more fabric goodness, check out the Sunday Stash linky party at Finding Fifth.

In other news, I surprised myself and actually finished my dad's quilt yesterday - before Father's Day!  Unfortunately, he'll have to wait to receive it since he lives a few states away.  I'm going to send him pictures today, and post pictures on the blog here another time.  Happy Father's Day!

Sunday Stash

Now that I'm using Bloglovin, I'm able to catch up on or keep track of my favorite blogs as well as new ones as they come up.  I just found out about this Sunday Stash linky party with Finding Fifth this morning, so you're in for a double dose of me today because I can't help but share my newest addition to the stash.

Look at all my Katie Jump Rope!!!  I squeal with glee when I walk past it :)

The internet is definitely making the world smaller.  Here's the condensed version of how I came to buy 16 yards of KJR last month...

As I'm sure you did, I signed up for eleventy billion giveaways at Sew Mama Sew.  Turns out I won two charm packs of Happy Go Lucky from Karamat!  I send her my address and while patiently waiting for my squishee mail to arrive, I start stalking following her on Instagram.  I see a picture of KJR and in the comments find out she bought it at a store about an hour away from my house and that coincidentally, she lives about 3 hours away from me.  Small world, right?  So I went and bought KJR, fresh from the bolt, at Gerline's Quilt Shoppe in Giddings, TX.  And yes, I left some behind... I'm also open to trading some of mine if you're interested!
