Work in Progress Wednesday

It is Wednesday, isn't it?  My week is flying by!

Last night I decided to work on the Cathedral Window blocks I've had sitting on my sewing table for eons. I had a few squares of the background put together and now that I have a nice variety of pretty scraps, I thought it was time to work on it.  So far I've sewn all the seams on the sewing machine and not by hand (shame on me!) because I don't want this to be a project I finish when I'm 80.

Anyway, I'm excited how this is turning out and can't wait to add more squares.  Doesn't it seem so fresh and spring-like?  The scraps are various - Moda Verna, Moda Bliss, Aunt Grace, men's shirts, vintage sheets...  I think it's a fun way to remember previous projects too.  You can say, oh that one's pretty, I made an apron out of that!  Sorry the picture isn't the greatest, but you get the idea.  This little baby is about 8" x 12" and I have no idea how big it will get.  Does anyone know how warm this type of quilt is?  I feel like it's more for decoration than actually keeping a body warm.  I'll find out someday!  Have a wonderful week :D

I find Cathedral Quilts really warm in spite them not having any batting. The one thing you will see over the years is the wear and tear will result along the edges of the squares; but, I've always been able to easily repair them with a ladder stitch.

It's beautiful! I've been seeing a lot of cathedral window quilts lately, so I'm really getting an urge to make one myself. I just love bright colors like this in a cathedral window quilt. Nice job.

Thanks for linking up with WIP Wednesday! Have a wonderful week filled with lots of sewing. : )

How beautiful! I haven't made it past stright lines in quilts, yet, but I'm hopeful. You've done a great job, and the colors are giving me Spring fever. :)

I just started trying out cathedral windows and am loving making them! Although the prep of the white is a bit tedious and I've steam burned my fingers a bit already!

It's really lovely! I tried one once and failed. With so many great tutorials out there now, I might need to try again.
